Windows 8 and 8.1 with miserable results for November 2013
It is already clear that Windows 8 has failed, however, her footsteps coming and the version 8.1, released last month. This is evidenced by recent data from Net Applications regarding market share of different operating systems.
According to the research company, November 2013 was fairly weak for both Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Together they earned only 0.05% of market share (an increase from 9.25% to 9.30%). In particular, the share of Windows 8 fell by 0.87% (from 7.49% to 6.66%), while Windows 8.1 increased by 0.92% (from 1.72% to 2.64%). At the same time, the share of Windows 7 grew by 0.22% (from 46.42% to 46.64%).
Overall, for November, Windows 7 had achieved better results than Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 combined. And it is definitely a failure for the latest operating system from Microsoft.
His best result of Windows 8 showed in August, when the market share of the platform has increased by 2.01%, but now we see another weak month. This trend is likely to continue, given that many Windows users don’t like radical changes in the interface. They continue to use the good old «seven», deliberately avoiding the upgrade to 8. And despite aggressive Microsoft’s introduction of Windows 8 in all new devices, the total share of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 looks sad.
Meanwhile, the share of Windows XP in November decreased by only 0.02% (from 31.24% to 31.22%).
Throughout 2013 the total market share of Windows has declined each month except March, July and November. Last month Windows received 0.22% (an increase from 90.66% to 90.88%). This strengthening is due to drop OS X and Linux: 0.17% (7.56%) and 0.05% (1.56%), respectively.
