Windows 10 will occupy less space
Microsoft has shared interesting details about the development of Windows 10. In a posting on its website the company spoke about the technical measures that have been taken to ensure that the operating system takes up less hard disk space compared to current versions.
The company explained in detail the new algorithm of compression in the file system, which allowed to save about 1.5 GB of memory on machines with 32-bit version of the OS and 2.6 GB in the case of a 64-bit version.
The compression system is smart enough not to impact negatively on overall system performance. Windows 10 evaluates the performance and on the basis of the hardware uses the corresponding compression ratio.
Moreover, Microsoft has improved the Windows recovery tools. They are no longer requires a separate partition on the drive to restore the operating system to its original state, saving you from 4 GB to 12 GB depending on the computer manufacturer.
All these measures were undertaken primarily with an eye on device with small internal memory – recall, for example, budget tablets.
