Windows 10 is already the third most popular desktop operating system
On 29 July we witnessed one of the biggest events in the history of Microsoft. The launch of Windows 10 marked the change of the business model of American corporations, which shifted from product to service.
The spread of the new operating system is not free of hardship, but during those two months it was installed more than 100 million computers that can already be considered a success. So free upgrade for all Windows 7 users and Windows 8.1 in combination with the advertising campaign, it seems, is bearing fruit.
Now, thanks to statistics from StatCounter, it became known that Windows 10 has reached a new milestone, it has surpassed Windows XP in market of desktop operating systems: 8.23% vs 8.03% in XP. However, the «ten» is still a long and difficult path. While the gap from Windows 8.1 is only 4.61%, to the primary purpose of the Almighty, «seven», still quite far. According to StatCounter, 7 version of the operating system keeps as much as 44.21% of the market.
Windows 10 will overtake 8.1 in the near future – no doubt about it, what can be said about Windows 7 whose users over the years got used to it so strongly, transplant them to something else is not quite easy.
