Windows 10: a function for installing applications to external media delayed
Windows 10 operating system will continue to develop – we have already heard. Some functions, however, which we have seen and had time to try out pre-release versions for insiders, will not be part of the official release.
In particular, Windows 10 (the desktop version to avoid confusion) no longer allows you to install apps on external media, although in prior builds this feature to work.
Now, if the build of Windows 10 (10240) you open the Settings app and go to the System > Storage, you will notice that the function is present but not activated.
Statement of team Microsoft on the support forum confirms this fact and gives some explanations on the matter.
The company decided to defer the integration of this feature to the next version, as it’s not ready Prime time. The owners of tablets equipped with a modest amount of built-in storage, can’t use this as a useful feature as long as Microsoft will not release an update that activates the function. However, given the speed with which the giant releases a new update and a different approach to update management, to wait, most likely, have not too long.
