The owners of the Surface Pro 64GB will be available only 23 GB of internal memory
Microsoft officials have already confirmed that the Surface Pro with 128 GB of internal memory will offer its future owners only 83 GB of free disk space, and Surface Pro with 64 GB of memory – scarce 23 GB. The rest of the space (45 GB 41 GB, respectively) are employed directly by the operating system of Windows 8, a recovery partition, built-in programs, etc.
It is unlikely that this news will bring a smile on the faces of those people who are already planning to purchase the device, but fortunately, the tablet provides the ability to expand the space through an external memory card. However, the fact remains that about 35% of built-in memory in the Surface Pro will be eaten without a single download or install.
The Junior model, the Surface RT, a significant portion of internal memory is also reserved for the operating system and preinstalled apps. The 32-Gigabyte version is available for about 16 GB of free space and the 64-Gigabyte Surface RT user is 45 GB.
Surface RT is already sold in several countries, while the Surface Pro will hit stores February 9.
