Microsoft: second wave of updates to Windows 10 Mobile will not
Yesterday Microsoft released an official update to Windows Mobile 10 for smartphones with Windows Phone 8.1, but the announced list, there were many models that had it. At the end of 2014, the company has promised that all Lumia devices with Windows Phone 8 will get update to Windows 10. At the same time, many users bought those phones with the confidence that all models without exception will be updated to the new version of the software.
Many owners left behind models do not lose hope and continue to believe that this is not the end and that will be a second wave of updates. Alas, it is not so devices like Lumia Icon, Lumia 920 and Lumia 1020 (and many others) will not receive the long-awaited «top ten» officially. According to Microsoft, the reason lies in the feedback received from users of preliminary test editions of Windows 10 Mobile, noting the various problems in phones with the new software. The decision very strange, especially considering the fact that the model is almost identical to the Lumia Icon the Lumia 930.
Many fans of Windows Phone, this situation caused a sense of deja vu. The American company is no stranger to «throw» their users – if you remember, at the presentation of Windows Phone 8, it became clear that the new OS version will not reach the phones Windows Phone 7; is new version for WP7 was released an interim update with small changes.
Until now, Windows Phone was seen as a platform that from the point of view of updates, has the advantage over Android due to the guaranteed access to new versions, but in fact it turned out that it is not. However, as noted yesterday, users of unsupported models can get the update by joining the Insider program. They will get the same Assembly, but never go beyond the branches of TH2 development.
