The announcement of Windows 8.1 with Bing: a new edition of Windows for low-cost devices
Microsoft has officially announced a new version of Windows called Windows 8.1 with Bing. The first devices with it we will see during a tech conference Computex in Taipei, which will be held early next month. That’s where many of the hardware partners of Microsoft are going to announce new devices running Windows 8.1 with Bing, which means that the development of these products was started some time ago, which explains the rumors that we heard a few months ago time ago.
Windows 8.1 with Bing is different from Windows 8.1 Update 1, except that as a search engine by default, Internet Explorer will use Bing. Naturally, the search engine can be changed to any other. Otherwise, it is the same operating system.
Some devices running Windows 8.1 with Bing will go in the Office or with an Office 365 subscription for 1 year.
When Microsoft released the first update for Windows 8.1, manufacturers get the opportunity to develop cheaper devices with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. Now that Android tablets are even cheaper (recently, for example, HP introduced a tablet just for $ 100), Microsoft announced Windows 8.1 with Bing, making it possible for us to launch an even cheaper tablet with Windows, because the producers this publication is available for free.
For clarity it should be noted that Windows 8.1 with Bing is a product exclusively for manufacturers, which will not be available for individual sale to consumers, users will be able to get this OS only in conjunction with a purchased device.
