Surface Pro 3 got a 30% performance increase with the new driver from Intel
The beauty of software is that it can always receive an update that will make it better. This week, Intel released a new driver for its graphic chip series HD4400 and 5000, which provides performance gain of up to 30% on the Intel fourth generation Haswell architecture, like those which are fitted in the Surface Pro 3.
The new driver also adds support for the new Intel Core M processor with a new graphics accelerator HD5300.
The assurance of Intel, the new driver also improves the energy efficiency of graphics chips, so if you think that the increase in performance with the new driver will affect the battery life of your device, then you are mistaken, at least so says the company.
The disadvantage is that the new driver is part of Windows Update, and this means that you will have to install it manually. Also remember that the operating system will recommend you not to install this driver, because it will assume that it is an older version, but you can install it without any worries.
