Sales of Xbox One has reached 2 million units
Microsoft has announced that Xbox One sales reached 2 million units in the first 18 days. The company is trying to stick to the pace that has PlayStation 4, and especially in the holiday season.
Recall, on 3 December, the Japanese Sony announced that sales of their new console, which is November 15 debut in North America, exceeded 2.1 million units. Xbox One debuted a week later, on November 22, but in 13 countries around the world, and in each of these countries sales are going well – sold nearly every console shipped to stores, according to Bloomberg.
«Sales of both platforms are equally good,» said Colin Sebastian, an analyst at Robert W. Baird & Co. «The same can be said about the production».
Microsoft and Sony are trying to attract more gamers to the console market, which declined markedly in recent years – a decline of 32% from 2008 to 2012, according to market research company NPD Group. Xbox One and PS4 offer much more advanced graphics capabilities and a broad range of applications that were not present in previous models.
It is expected that both companies will sell about 3 million consoles by the end of the year. However, the prices of the Xbox One and PS4 will drop in 2015. The latter is due to a great launch of both consoles, so many analysts tend to believe that the first discount we will see not earlier than 18-20 months.
