Screenshots of the next update for Windows Phone 8
This fall, Microsoft needs to release an update for Windows Phone 8 that enables support for more current hardware (Quad core processors and displays with a resolution of 1080p, for example) and make other changes to the mobile platform. This update is known under the code name of General Distribution Release 3, and it debuts on the Nokia Lumia 1520 smartphone, but will be available for existing models.
Thanks to WPCentral forum user we can look at the new screen images of GDR3. They were made on the smartphone that was purchased on Craigslist and obviously running the new version of the platform. The screenshots show a new mode for in-car use, the ability to close apps in the multitasking and the option to disable automatic screen rotation.
Microsoft will add support for custom ringtones various built-in apps (mail client, calendar, text messages, voice mail messages, etc.). Another new feature will allow you to install a Wi-Fi connection during the initial device setup to restore data from a backup.
The Verge has confirmed the authenticity of the images, adding that GDR3 will debut in the Nokia Lumia 1520 and an HTC Harmony, and later reaches other smartphones that are already available on the market.
