ReIcon is a portable tool to remember and restore position of icons on the desktop
If you frequently change screen resolution, you should be aware that when switching to a different resolution, the position of icons on the desktop may change. However, there are a number of tools that allow you to save icon positions, and quickly restore the previous state after switching to a different screen resolution. ReIcon is one of such instruments, intended to overcome the above mentioned trouble. With this portable app, you can quickly save multiple layouts of icons on your desktop and just as quickly to restore them.
This is one of the most simple computer programs that I used, but despite this, it is very functional and very time-saving. ReIcon does not require installation and supports 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.
After running you will see the interface consists of one main area and several buttons on the toolbar that allow you to store, retrieve, and delete icon layouts. When you click on the «Save» button, ReIcon will retain the current arrangement of icons in the new profile. The program will automatically assign the name of the created profile, but you can always rename it.
For each saved layout, ReIcon displays the following information: the screen resolution, date and time of creation, total number of icons on the desktop and a unique identifier. To restore a specific layout, you can either highlight it and click the «Restore» button, or simply double-click it in the list. The layout will be restored in the blink of an eye.
An interesting feature of ReIcon is that it can be integrated in the context menu of the desktop or folder «Computer». Thus, to save and restore the layouts of your icons without even running the app. To do this, open the «Options» menu, then go to «Add Context Menu» and choose the context menu to which you want to integrate the function, or press the «Uninstall All» button to remove it from the context menu.
ReIcon supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
