Open Live Writer: version of Windows Live Writer open source
Like any other major IT company, Microsoft offers its customers and users of the services and programs that most people have never heard of due to the fact that they are not intended for mass consumption, or because the company stopped their development.
Windows Live Writer can be attributed to the program group, whose development Microsoft no longer interesting. For those who don’t know, is a tool that is designed for writing and publishing articles in Blogger, WordPress and some other blogging platform. It was released back in 2006, and the last major update for it was released in 2012, although a small update has also been released in 2014.
In June 2014 it became known that Microsoft is considering to give Windows Live Writer community. A year later, Scott Hanselman from Microsoft has confirmed that work on the open source code is already underway. And yesterday in his personal blog, he announced the release of the first versions of the new Windows Live Writer, renamed Open Live Writer.
Currently, Open Live Writer offers the same design, but has all the features of the original: for example, no spell check and ability to upload albums to OneDrive. In addition, unlike the original app’s interface is not translated into Russian language. However, the developers have prepared a plan that will gradually integrate new features.
