Office 365 Video brings YouTube like feature for business
Microsoft announced Office 365 Video, a new feature for Office 365 subscribers that allows you to publish and share videos within the local network of the company. To provide something very similar to YouTube’s new feature uses SharePoint Online and Azure Media Service.
Office 365 Video is described by Microsoft as one of the first NextGen portal that combines social integration, machine learning Office Graph and mobile usage scenarios.
The home page of Office 365 Video is from the section «Spotlight», which lists all the most important video, and sections «Popular,» which highlights personalized and relevant content. Tab «Custom Channels» helps users find content sorted by topics, and a video page that supports comments and discussion, shows relevant information about the video and the author.
Office 365 Video supports download videos even from mobile devices, and SharePoint Online and Azure Media Services will convert the uploaded content into different formats, making it suitable for different screen sizes and for smooth streaming.
Thanks to the power of Active Directory, managers can set permissions for channels and specific videos, defining who can view and who can upload videos.
YouTube-like feature for Office 365 will roll out gradually and will become available for users worldwide in early 2015. In future updates, the company plans to add new functionality and cover more mobile devices to publish content using Office 365 Video.
