Office 2016 Preview: the co-authoring feature now supports Word files stored in OneDrive
Earlier in the year Microsoft announced support for co-authoring Word documents in Office 2016 Preview. The first months of this function is allowed to only edit documents stored in SharePoint Online, but with the latest update for Office 2016 Preview collaborative editing became available in the documents stored in OneDrive.
This is an extremely useful feature that can be used in the working groups: two or more users can open a single Word document from OneDrive and edit it in real time, while seeing the cursor position of the other collaborators, along with made to document changes.
To use the function of co-authorship need to install the latest update for Office 2016 Preview that was released a few hours ago. You must also make sure that other members have permission to edit the document.
The first time you use function, you will see a message asking you to enable automatic exchange of changes in the document. From this moment on, other users will see your actions, and you, on the contrary, will see what they are doing, and in real-time.
