Office 16 will be ready only in the second half of 2015
Microsoft plans to release Office 16 in the second half of 2015. This was announced today by Julia white, Director of marketing for Office and Office 365, during TechEd Europe 2014.
Earlier it was reported that the release of the next version of Office will be held next spring, but it seems that the launch date has been shifted forward. However, white did not specify when exactly will begin selling new versions of office Suite. In her statement, she was limited to only that version of client and server applications, Office 16 will be released in the second half of 2015.
According to ZDNet, currently Microsoft is testing the pre-release version of Office 16 within the company. However, this did not become an obstacle for people from outside who were able to access the Assembly outside the company. In the result, we recently heard that the new version of Office will be equipped with new black theme and Tell Me feature, which is already part of the web version of the office Suite.
In parallel with the development Office 16 Redmond is preparing a touchscreen version apps. Android version might see the light later this year, possibly in November, while the Windows version will have to wait, because Microsoft makes it directly to Windows 10, and it will not be released until spring 2015.
