Microsoft with record sales of the Xbox One
In November, Microsoft sold 1.2 million Xbox One consoles in the U.S., says the company citing data from research firm NPD. A gaming device from the software giant took first place in sales in the UK. This is the first victory Xbox One in the battle against the rival PlayStation 4 from Sony. Both devices debuted in the fall of 2013, and since then Japanese companies have managed to stay in first place in sales worldwide.
Good results console from Microsoft associated with the fact that November 2, the company has reduced the price of Xbox One by 50 dollars in the United States. And one of the reasons why the PlayStation 4 has enjoyed higher demand throughout the year, is the lower price of the device. Game console from the Japanese company debuted at a price of $ 399. In the United States PS 4 remains exactly the same. Xbox One, in turn, was launched at a price of $ 499, which caused discontent among gamers. The console was more expensive due to the presence in the package of the controller Kinect. However, in June due to weak demand, the software giant has reduced the price to $ 399, excluding Kinect from the bundle which you can buy separately. This is partly aligned sales, but Sony and its PlayStation 4 has continued to lead.
November 2, Microsoft has decided to lower the price another 50 dollars to 349 dollars, which led to strong results last month. With the recent price reduction of the Xbox One was cheaper and therefore more attractive to users than PlayStation 4, which has retained the price of last year. Microsoft also launched various promotions, which at certain points consumers can purchase the console, even for $ 250.
Excellent results Xbox One can strengthen in December, as Christmas and new year, people traditionally make more purchases. Total sales of the console from Microsoft in the fourth quarter could bring the software giant back in the war for supremacy on the gaming front, where last year was dominated by Sony.
In the third quarter of the year, the Japanese giant announced that total sales of its game consoles totaled 4.1 million units, of which 3.3 million are accounted for by the new PlayStation 4. This far exceeds the total sales of Microsoft for the same period, the company sold 2.4 million Xbox One and Xbox 360. And although the company does not breakdown on sales of new models, they are lower than the PlayStation 4.
Since the launch of the new generation of consoles in the third quarter of 2013 to the same period of this year total sales of Sony (including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2) reached 19.1 million units. At the same time, Microsoft has sold 12.9 million Xbox One and Xbox 360.
