Microsoft wants to integrate Cortana in the windshields of cars
For the first time Microsoft presented its Windows concept cars at last year’s Build conference for developers. Then the company showed how could look like the Windows interface on the touch screen of the car, but didn’t mention anything about how to interact with the system using only the voice.
Now the concept of Windows, in car supports Cortana, the virtual assistant from Microsoft. At the conference TechDays in Taiwan Samuel Shen, COO of Microsoft in the development in the Asia-Pacific region, showed a concept of the projection of Cortana on the windshield of the car. The integration allows you to reserve a table in the restaurant or view a virtual map directly onto the windscreen by means of interaction through voice input.
In the past year, Microsoft has stepped up its efforts to integrate the Windows in the car, but the company still can’t offer a universal system. The software giant has long been supplies a software platform for many different vehicle systems — Ford, Kia, BMW, Nissan, Fiat,- but, unfortunately, the software is customized for each manufacturer separately, so that a single standard does not yet exist. However, if Microsoft will manage to turn the concept into a finished product and implement it in cars, Windows in car will automatically become one of the main competitors Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from Google.
