Microsoft has sued Samsung
Microsoft sued Samsung for violating the terms of the Treaty on patents, reported the Wall Street Journal. This is the first legal battle between the companies, complemented edition.
Microsoft explains that in 2011, South Korean manufacturer of consumer electronics had signed a contract on sharing patents. The American tech giant has signed a similar agreement with many other manufacturers of mobile devices running the Android operating system.
Under the deal, Samsung has committed itself to pay Microsoft an undisclosed sum for each sold smartphone or tablet with Android. According to analysts from Nomura Securities, last year, in this way the American company earned about $ 2 billion.
In his complaint, Microsoft says Samsung was late on my last payment and refused to pay the interest due on it. At the same time, the South Korean company said that with the deal with Nokia, the American company also violated the agreement.
Microsoft urged the court to enforce the terms of the contract and stated that the Nokia acquisition does not invalidate the agreement to share patents.
