Microsoft simplifies upgrading to Windows 10
Windows 10 became the first version of the operating system, which is available for free for all owners of licensed copies of previous versions of Windows, and this is one of the main reasons why it is already used by more than 110 million computers worldwide (more than 120 million according to unofficial data).
Microsoft should definitely be happy with this result for the first three months after the release of «tens» to the market. However, in the near future the company wants to change the upgrade Windows 7 and 8.1 to the new OS.
Recall that now the operating system can be installed through Windows update, where it was listed as an Optional update. But next year the update will be classified as «recommended». Depending on the settings of Windows Update, the update process can start automatically with prior notice and the choice to continue the installation or not. Rollback capability within 31 days after the setting is saved. On devices with metered connection upgrade to Windows 10 will not be uploaded.
The company also announced the improvement notices, which invite you to upgrade: they will become easier and easier, and Microsoft will completely disable them.
Tool Media Creation Tool will soon have a new version that will allow to create a universal installation media on a USB or DVD that contains both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10 Home and Pro.
Finally, the company plans to take steps regarding the issue update computers with unlicensed copies of Windows 7 or 8.1. In particular, Redmond is preparing a pilot program – at first only for the US to simplify the license purchase through the Windows Store or by entering key acquired in any other place. If the initiative proves successful, the company will distribute it to other markets.
