Microsoft released MS-DOS Mobile for Lumia
Today is April 1st, and it means that you should look with suspicion on any information on the Internet, but among of humorous news still there are products that actually can be used. For example, Microsoft released operating system, MS-DOS Mobile, which is designed specifically for Lumia smartphones.
As the name implies, it is an emulation of the classic operating system from Microsoft that brings a familiar black-and-white interface in the smartphones of the Lumia series.
The app is available for download in the Windows Store, allows you to run a limited number of core applications by typing commands. They are located in C:PROGRAMSPHONE, and if you forgot how to work with MS-DOS, then here’s a few commands: cd programs, cd and phone dir. In fact, the application can be run from the main directory using their names – camera, maps, market, contacts, phone, cortana, etc.
In most cases, the user receives an MS-DOS version of standard applications. For example, to dial the number, you must enter the phone number of called subscriber; similarly send text messages. And the camera (back or front) takes pictures with several interesting effects (ASCII, B&W and CGA). If you decide to download the browser, you will hear the familiar sounds of the modem, which is connected to the global network.
