Microsoft readies new office apps for Windows 8 and Windows Phone
Microsoft plans to release new office apps for Windows 8 and Windows Phone, and say The Verge. The publication writes that one of these apps, Office Reader, was shown during the big meeting with the staff of the company.
Office Reader will complete the classic office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and will allow you to view saved web pages, and other file formats, including office documents, PDFs, ebooks etc.
Perhaps the most interesting feature of this app, which, incidentally, was demonstrated during the aforementioned meeting with Microsoft employees, is that Office Reader supports digital pen (like Surface Pro) to interact with the content, you can emphasize and highlight elements, as well as to make notes in documents of any format. Moreover, the Microsoft Office team works closely with Bing to integrate in Office Reader the ability to search the Internet. For example, in the document you can highlight a piece of text and receive information from the Internet.
Also Microsoft is developing Office Lens Windows Phone app. This app will use the smartphone’s camera to scan the text, to decode it, and convert to numeric characters for text manipulation inside of the office Suite. Both apps will be released during the first months of 2014.
