Microsoft Project Astoria may be delayed or even will be closed
It is no secret that Microsoft would once and for all put an end to the problem of apps on its mobile platform. At the Build conference 2015 the company has presented the so-called Bridges («bridges») as the final solution to this problem. According to Microsoft, using «bridges» developers can port their Win32, web, iOS and Android applications and publish them to the app store for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile.
In particular, Project Astoria, «the bridge» for Android applications has attracted the most attention of users. In some builds of Windows 10 Mobile was even integrated subsystem that allows you to run and use them.
According to Windows Central, for a number of reasons Microsoft could delay or even cancel the launch of Project Astoria. First, the software giant could face complications in project implementation and integration of Project Astoria with the operating system. This is also evidenced by the fact that the availability of the Android subsystem leads to performance degradation of Windows 10 Mobile. Another possible reason is the ability to install applications bypassing the store, that is using the installation files .apk.
and Windows Central claim that «porting Android applications did not go as planned», and the above-mentioned reasons could cause delay or even cancellation of Project Astoria.
Microsoft itself still says nothing, but removing the subsystem from the latest Android build of Windows 10 Mobile may be the confirmation that one of the «bridge» was closed.
