Lumia Imaging SDK now supports Windows 10
Longtime user know Lumia of Lumia Imaging SDK firsthand. The appearance of this instrument development coincided with the launch of Nokia Lumia 1020 in 2013, and allowed developers to use the latest know-how of the Finnish company in the field of image processing in third-party photo apps for Windows Phone.
Inheriting Lumia Imaging SDK from Nokia, Microsoft has decided not to stop the project, but instead continued to improve. Yesterday the company announced the release of a new version of Imaging SDK (3.0) which is fully compatible with Windows 10 UWP (Universal Windows Platform), however, the key feature of the new release is support for image editing with GPU acceleration using Direct2D. This means significant performance improvement in most relevant applications, says Microsoft.
Looking at the news from the regular users, we can say that the appearance of support of the UWP in Lumia Imaging SDK will lay the groundwork for a series of new, powerful photo applications with unique features for Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile. The company, however, says that the full compatibility with Windows 10 in no way limits the interoperability of development tools in Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1.
