List of anti-virus software, fully compatible with Windows 8.1
Perhaps after upgrading to Windows 8.1 you are thinking about how now to install antivirus. There are many options – McAfee, Avast, Panda, Kaspersky, etc., so make the right choice is not so simple. But one thing is for sure – with Windows 8.1, you have protection from the very first day. As I have already mentioned, Windows 8.1 comes with Windows Defender (aka Windows Defender or Microsoft Security Essentials in Windows 7). For those who don’t know, is a free antivirus solution from Microsoft.
Windows defender cannot be considered as the primary option (even Microsoft itself recently admitted it), but it works wonderfully, so I always recommend it to all my friends and acquaintances before they will run to spend money on popular antivirus software, many of which irritate your alerts, pop-UPS and promotions. Of course, despite the fact that Windows 8.1 already has a built-in antivirus, it is recommended to choose a third-party solution for security. Below we have compiled a list of known antivirus software that is fully compatible with Windows 8.1:
- McAfee Antivirus Plus 2012 and McAfee Antivirus (version 16)
- Avast Antivirus Pro (version 7 and 8)
- Dr Web (version 7 and 8)
- PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus 2012 (version 9)
- Panda Cloud Antivirus Free (version 2) and Panda Antivirus Pro 2013 (version 12)
- Rising Antivirus 2011 (version 23)
- Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 (version 12 and 13)
- ESET NOD32 Antivirus (version 6 and 7)
- Norton AntiVirus (version 21)
It is important to note that this list includes not the latest version. This is due to the fact that in compiling the list was based on data from the Windows compatibility Center, which includes information from real people with real experience.
The following list contains the antivirus program, which in theory is compatible with Windows 8.1:
- McAfee Antivirus Plus 2014
- Avast Antivirus Pro 2014
- Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014
- Panda Antivirus Pro 2014
Remember, one antivirus is good, two is problematic – just choose one product and maintain it up to date. It is also worth noting that after installing third party antivirus, you will not be able to use «Windows» as the operating system will automatically disable it.
