Intel wants to boost PC sales, placing Android next to Windows
In response to falling sales in the PC market, manufacturers are trying to remedy this unpleasant situation by resorting to various methods, and even produce computers running two operating systems – Windows and Android. According to a recent posting on The Verge, this is only the beginning, and at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, which will be held from 7 to 10 January, many producers represent a new wave of devices based on the combination of the above OS.
The author of the so-called concept of «Dual OS» Intel is, and the idea is to offer consumers Windows PC that can also work with Android using virtualization technology. In other words, it will allow you to run both operating systems side by side – without the need to restart and run a new OS like when using the system with dual booting.
If you think you’ve heard this before, you’re right, because a few months ago Samsung introduced the ATIV Q, a full-fledged computer with Windows 8 that allows you to switch to Android with one click. In addition, many of us are already using BlueStacks to run Android apps under Windows, and the program for WindowsAndroid run Android in Windows environment.
In spite of all the benefits from the use of two OS on one device, The Verge reports that Microsoft is not happy with this initiative. Moreover, Patrick Moorhead, principal analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy, says that Microsoft does not want that to happen. He also said that «it sends the wrong signal to developers Windows.»
As with any rumors, this information should be treated with suspicion, but if all this is true, we’ll know in a few days.
