In January, Windows 8.1 showed a slight increase
According to the latest data from Net Applications, in January 2014, the market share of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 have not changed. Together they increased by only 0.09% (10.49% to 10.58%).
In particular, the share of Windows 8 fell by 0.26% (from 6.89 percent to 6.63 percent), while the share of Windows 8.1 grew by 0.35% (from 3.60% to 3.95%). Meanwhile, the share of Windows 7 decreased by only 0.03% (from 47.52 percent to 47.49%). The best results of Windows 8 was achieved in August 2013 when the share of operating system market increased by 2.01% and the biggest loss (0.8%) was observed in November.
As for earlier versions of Windows, Vista’s share has slipped to 0.31% (from 3.61% to 3.30%) and the «old» XP could rise slightly (by 0.25% from 28.98% to 29.23%).
In 2013, Windows lost its share every month except March, July and November. Last month, the share of Windows fell by 0.01% (from 90.73% to 90.72%). OS X from Apple received 0.14% (increased to 7.68%), while the share of Linux has decreased by 0.13 percent (to 1.60%).
