Huawei refused to use Windows Phone
Earlier this year Huawei announced that it will release a smartphone with two operating systems – Android and Windows Phone. However, later the company refused from this project. Explanations for this decision was not followed, but the Chinese manufacturer has expressed its position against Windows Phone.
In an interview with The Seattle Times, Joe Kelly, Chairman of the Global Media and Communications at Huawei, said that the company earns on their devices with WP, and that «nobody earns on Windows Phone».
This bold statement was made some months later after Microsoft made WP free for device manufacturers and more than a year after Huawei described the operating system as «weak».
Comment from Huawei appeared and exactly at that moment when Microsoft is desperately trying to attract more producers to create smartphones with Windows Phone to compete in the face of Android and iOS.
Microsoft is doing everything possible to increase sales. Previously, the company announced a partnership with Foxconn, Lenovo, Longcheer, ZTE and other manufacturers. However, it is clear that this is not enough. So, for the third quarter of 2014 the share of Windows Phone made up only 3.3% worldwide – where the percentage is less compared to the same period a year earlier.
Care Huawei, just as LG is bad news for Microsoft. However, recently, the company has fully taken the reins into their own hands and with the mobile business Nokia, Microsoft may try to make Windows Phone a worthy contender for iOS and Android, which together hold more than 95% of the smartphone market.
