How to run a program directly from PowerPoint 2013
In the past we showed you how to insert YouTube videos in Word 2013 and PowerPoint 2013. Today I want to share with you another trick that will help you to save time during the presentation and not to distract your audience.
Suppose someone presents a new program, and it needs to demonstrate its functionality. Usually, in such situations people turn PowerPoint and go to the desktop, find the program and launch it. This is definitely not the best way. I’ll tell you how to do it with the slide in presentation mode.
We will start with creating a new presentation. Launch PowerPoint 2013, and in the menu «Generate» choose «Blank presentation».
Next, select the text or object that you intend to use to initiate run the program.
Now switch to the Insert tab. In the section «References», choose «Action».
Opens the window «action settings». Go to the tab «mouse Click» or «mouse» – depends on how the action needs to run the program. Both tabs have the same parameters.
Activate the option «Run program» and browse to the desired program to run. To do this, navigate to the program executable, select it and click «OK». As an example I will use firefox.exe. In the window «action settings» click «OK».
That’s about it. In presentation mode you can easily run the selected program. If you see a notification of the security system, click on the «Enable all» or «Enable».
Note: the program itself is not integrated into the presentation. If you plan to show it on another computer, you must make sure that it is installed on it in the same directory.
