How to fix problem with incorrect display of the application switcher in Windows 8.1
Since launch Windows 8 apps from the Windows Store has become a popular topic for discussion. Users say about the quality of these applications and their quantity; together trying to solve all sorts of problems with applications, problems with Windows Store and so on. Today I will tell you how to fix another problem associated with the modern UI in Windows 8.1.
The essence of our problem today is that whenever a user tries to open the application switcher (this is the panel appears in the left part of the screen when you hover to the left corner of the screen), the list to switch between running applications is incorrect. By «incorrect» refers to an issue where the application list is not fully open (as in the screenshot below) and, consequently, switching between apps becomes impossible.
At first glance it may seem that this problem can be solved by restarting, but this is not so – the problem persists even after that. Of course, for fast switching between applications, you can still use the classic Ctrl + Tab, but it would be better if you just eliminate the above mentioned malfunction, especially since the solution is quite simple and fast.
So, first you need to open registry editor. To do this, press Windows + R, type «regedit» in the line of the Windows «Run» and press Enter.
Now in registry editor follow the following path:
In the right pane of the above registry key to find a parameter with the name «BackstackMode». If this does not exist, create it yourself. To do this, click the right mouse button in a blank area of the right pane and from the context menu select «new — > DWORD (32-bit)». Now double click on this parameter and change its value:
Change the value from 0 to 1. Next, click «OK» close the registry editor and reboot. This should solve your problem.
