How to enable early version of Continuum in Windows 10 build 9879
Although the latest build of Windows 10 Technical Preview includes a new user interface tweaks and new features, one feature is still missing in the ranks, and it is a Continuum.
During the presentation of Windows 10, Microsoft showed a new mode that allows convertible devices such as the Lenovo Yoga and Surface Pro, automatically switch from desktop to optimized for touch interaction interface when you disable the keyboard and mouse, and Vice versa. Thanks to this, users of these devices will be easier to navigate and interact with the new operating system.
Although the company said that the regime of Continuum will be available soon for testing, in build 9879 it is not, at least at first glance. In fact, the software giant has added an alpha version of the function, so if you’ve already installed the latest version of the Technical Preview, you can easily include Continuum by modifying the registry.
Step 1: Open the registry editor with administrator rights.
Step 2: Follow the path below:
Step 3: Click the right mouse button and create a new DWORD 32-bit.
Step 4: Rename it to «UseExperience» and change its value to 1.
Now reboot the system. As a result, you will get a new «Start»screen.
It should be noted that this is a very early version of the mode, and this means that it looks and works not like what Microsoft showed at the end of September. To cancel the changes, simply change the value of the generated parameter to 0 (or remove it) and restart the computer.
