How to easily transfer files between PC and Mac via Wi-Fi
Many people have computers both Windows and Mac OS X. If you are among such people, there is a probability that sometimes you are confronted with the need to transfer files between PC to Mac and Vice versa. To help beginners in this task, I have written a lot articles about how to transfer files between computers running Windows and OS X, but they generally require messing around with the system settings. If you want to share files between PC and Mac, but it does not have the slightest desire to meddle in the system setup, you should try a free tool called FileDrop.
App FileDrop is a kind of analogue technology AirDrop from Apple that allows you to transfer files between two Mac machines. FileDrop allows you to do the same, but between Windows and Mac. The advantage of this app is that you can transfer files without changing any operating system settings.
The interface is very simple and beautiful. To start enough to install FileDrop on PC and Mac (both must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network) and then run the program on both computers. Then you simply drag the file(s) into the FileDrop window on the Windows screen to start the transfer on the Mac, or Vice versa. Before transmission on the screen of another computer a message will appear asking you to confirm or decline the process. To make the file(s) is required to click «Accept». The progress is displayed in percent.
If you have more than two computers that are running FileDrop, the program will detect them all, as long as they they were all available on the same network. Thus, you can use this program for sharing files between two computers or more.
With the default settings, FileDrop saves all transferred files in the Downloads folder. You can change this location by clicking on the button at the bottom of the program window, then pressing the «Change download folder» from the menu. In addition, it is worth noting that when you first launch FileDrop on a computer running Windows, you may see a warning that Windows firewall has blocked some features FileDrop all public and private networks. In this case, just click «Allow access».
At the time of this writing, the app was available in versions for Windows, OS X and iOS. The latter, unlike the first two, is paid (33 rubles). I checked in conjunction FileDrop Windows + iOS, as the Mac I have. Planned and Android version, so that soon users will be able to transfer files between all major desktop and mobile platforms with a simple drag and drop.
