How to downgrade Windows 10 Technical Preview to Windows 8.1 or Windows 7
Last week Microsoft released a new preview version of Windows 10 (build 9926), and Windows 7 users and Windows 8.1 makes it easy to upgrade using «Windows update».
Although, according to Microsoft, this is a more stable release compared to the previous builds, many users don’t think so. After installing the update, some have stopped working sound card (but it is a driver compatibility issue), and others report about broken apps and the start menu. Also on the forums you can find complaints that with Windows 10 build 9926 performance of their PC has fallen markedly, and there were various crashes and unstable work.
If you have upgraded to Windows 10 build 9926 with Windows 8.1, Windows 7 or previous Windows 10 build, you can revert back to a previous version of the OS, without any special effort.
To begin, open the «Settings» menu and click «Update and recovery».
Under «Update and recovery» go to «Recovery». In the right part of the window you will see an option «revert to previous version of Windows». It will allow you to go back to Windows 7 or 8.1, depending on the version that was installed on your computer before, without losing documents, photos or other personal data. However, in the process you will lose all apps installed after the upgrade. The same goes for personal settings.
Click on the «getting started». After you will see a confirmation.
Click «Back» to the operating system beginning the process of returning to a previous version.
