How to create a local account in Windows 10
It is no secret that the features of Windows 10 only available when using a Microsoft account. The users local profile the operating system does not allows you to install applications Store, sync personal settings, etc. If you have no need for these functions, then the Microsoft account is meaningless.
This guide is written to help those who are having difficulty with creating a local account in Windows 10. It may seem that the new operating system does not support this type of training but actually Microsoft just has significantly changed the process of its creation, to be precise, hid the treasured button away from the eyes of users.
Create a local account in Windows 10
There are several ways to do it. Let’s start with the basics.
Open the Settings app (this can be done using the «start» menu or by pressing + i).
Go to «Account» then go to «Family and others».
In the group «Other users» click «Add user to this computer».
In the opened window, click on the link «user, which I want to add, no email address».
Next, click on «Add a user without a Microsoft account».
Now enter the user name and, if necessary, password. Click «Next».
That’s about it. The account you just added appears in the group «Other users» where you can change the type of accounts, or delete it.
An alternative way
Open the Run window, type control userpasswords2 and press Enter or OK.
In the window «user Accounts» click «Add».
On the next screen, click on «sign in without a Microsoft account».
On the screen with a description of the benefits of Microsoft account and local accounts click on the «Local account».
Specify the user name (and password, if required) and click Next.
That’s all. Click finish and the user will be added.
By default, for security reasons, new accounts are endowed with limited privileges. However, you can always change the account type, making it administrative if you have created a local account for yourself.
To do this, go to Settings > Accounts > Family and other users. Select your local profile and press «Change account type». Instead of the standard user, select administrator.
P. S. to create a local account during the installation of the operating system, simply deny the computer access to the Internet. In this case, the system will not require you to sign in with a MS account.
