How to block a layout change, the start menu in Windows 10
The start menu is back with Windows 10 becoming a characteristic feature of the new version of the Windows operating system. New menu «start» offers the best features of the start menu in Windows 7 and some new features that were introduced on the start screen in Windows 8.
In Windows 10, the start Menu can be configured in several ways. You can change the size of the app tiles to the right of the menu; can move or delete them altogether. In addition to this you can post almost everything from files and folders and ending with the control panel and the basket.
It is possible that after the setting up and organizing menus as you need it, you’ll want to block configuration changes the layout of the start menu. If so, then read on to learn how to do it.
Note: the statement below will not affect the start screen, that is, the manipulation of the tiles on the start screen will not be blocked.
Step 1: Open Local Group Policy Editor (the»Editor for local group policies»). To do this, type gpedit.msc in the search box in the start menu, or open the Run dialog (Run), type the same command and press Enter.
Step 2: In the window of Local Group Policy Editor navigate to Computer Configuration — > Administrative Templates -> Start menu and Taskbar.
Step 3: In the right part of the window open the parameter properties Start Menu Layout with a double-click. Then select Enabled and click «Apply».
Restart the computer or restart the process explorer.exe in task Manager, for the changes to take effect.
That’s it! Now no one, including you, will not be able to intentionally or accidentally change the layout of your menu «start». To disable this limitation, follow the above steps and return to the default settings.
