How to add safe mode to boot menu in Windows 8.1 and 10

Safe mode (Safe Mode) is one of the important features of the Windows operating system. A function that is part of all recent versions of Windows, typically used to troubleshoot various system problems, including problems with the launch of the operating system.

In Windows 7 and previous versions of Windows access in safe mode is simple – you just need to press F8 after pressing the power button of the computer, but before the appearance of boot screen. However, in Windows 8 and Windows 10 the procedure of loading the operating system in safe mode is a bit more complicated.

Although there are a number of ways to boot Windows 8 and Windows 10 in safe mode, almost none of them is straightforward (i.e., require additional resources).

If you are among those users who have to go to Safe Mode very often, right here you will learn about the best way to download the Windows 8 and Windows 10 in safe mode.

The idea is to add the option for Safe Mode in the boot menu, which with certain settings, will appear for a few seconds on each boot of the operating system. Thus, whenever you will need to boot in safe mode, just choose the option «Safe Mode» in the selection menu of the operating system and press Enter.

If you like this idea, just follow the instructions below.

Step 1: Open a command prompt as administrator. Please note that there are several ways to launch a command prompt with administrator rights. If you are not familiar with any of them, read this article (there we are talking about other programs, but the principle is the same).

Step 4: Click the tab «Boot» (Boot). In the list, select Safe Mode, select «Safe boot», and in the field «Timeout» (Timeout) specify a value of 3 seconds. In fact, you can enter a value from 0 to 30. A value of 3 seconds means that the boot menu with a choice of safe mode will be displayed for 3 seconds before Windows will automatically continue to boot in normal mode. If three seconds is not enough for you, select 5 or more.
