How to add clock to home screen, Windows 8 and Windows RT
I don’t like that the date and time in Windows 8 are displayed only on the taskbar on the desktop and on the start screen, it is not. Fortunately, there are a lot of applications to fill this gap. Some of them cost money, but there are free alternatives. In this review we will look at some free apps and try to determine the best application to display time on start screen.
Tile Time is a free app with the settings, however access to some of them will have to pay. In fact, it’s one of the few applications that provide a live tile clock that works without problems.
Using the free version you can customize the color of text and background, font size, and choose between analog and digital clocks. But if you want to change the font used to display time and alarms on the display, you will have to pay for the full version.
The app works very well and compared to other free applications that Tile Time provides most of the settings even in the free version.
App Asparion Clock shows on the live tile with time and date. In addition, the app offers some settings.
Interface settings the application a little clumsy. It is possible to choose from a list of templates for live tiles and can configure information to be displayed in it.
Somehow, you cannot change the color of the tile, so if you stay on this app, you will have to put up with green color. The rest of the app is very good.
Clock – another simple app that shows time on live tile, but the tiles in this app are configurable, so if you do not like the way it looks, will have to choose another app.
If you click on a tile, the screen displays an analog clock and a calendar. You can attach them to the edge of the screen and see while working at the computer.
The application has a stopwatch, timer and alarm clock functions that can be useful.
Application Clock Tile is even easier than the application mentioned above. It also displays the time and date on the live tile.
Settings not at all. If you open the app, you’ll see the same thing on the live tile, but with larger font.
The application leaves much to be desired. From time to time, it just stops, that is the time on the live tile is in place.
Simply Advanced Time Tile
Simply Advanced Time Tile app with an ironic name. Nothing advanced in it. It only shows the time on the tile, which you can’t even customize.
In the application interface you’ll only find the date and time to configure nothing. Looking at this application, I understand that is a clone of the previously mentioned application Clock Tile.
The World Time app can show the time for multiple cities. The tile will show the time for the first two cities you add.
And if you open the app, you will see time for all the added cities.
This application also not allows you to configure the tile. Moreover, there are cases when the tile stops displaying the time, so I wouldn’t recommend it to you.
Digital Live Tile Clock
App Digital Clock Live Tile only works as a digital clock, but it works great.
First, the app is free. Second, you must first configure, and then click Replace Tiles. This would generate a tile based settings. Then you must click on the Set button Live Tile and all tiles will be operational.
Winners – Tile Time and Digital Live Tile Clock
If you have read this review, you already know that in this list only two apps that perform this simple task – Tile Time and Digital Live Tile Clock. However, u Tile Time is one small advantage – it displays and analog clock.
Overall, we were disappointed with the quality of this type of apps for Windows 8 and RT, but I hope that with time the situation will improve. If you find other apps to display time on start screen in Windows 8 and Windows RT, do not hesitate and tell us about them using the form of comments.
