HP Workspace will deliver x86 applications on smartphones with Windows 10 Mobile
Continuum – the new sensational feature of Windows 10 Mobile that allows you to work with universal apps from a smartphone to an external display via a wired or wireless connection.
Microsoft likes to exaggerate, saying that thanks to the Continuum smartphone can replace your PC, but obviously this statement is far from the truth. In this mode you can run only Windows Store apps and only those that have been specifically optimized for it. About running desktop programs like Chrome or Photoshop, of course, there can be no question, at least at this stage.
To somehow fill this gap, HP is developing a service HP Workspace, which was announced in a recent exhibition MWC 2016 together with the new mobile business class Elite x3. In fact HP Workspace is a directory x86 programs can run on the smartphone screen, and through the Continuum.
These programs run on the server with Intel Xeon E5-2670 and 56 GB of RAM, and operates a server running Windows Server 2012 R2. Smartphone sent only the picture – in remote desktop.
HP Workspace will be available by subscription and for delivery of programs will use virtualization Citrix or RemoteApp.
