Good luck, Microsoft: sales of Nokia mobile devices fell by 30%
Recently Nokia has completed the transfer of its mobile business to Microsoft, but the software giant got it not in the best shape. In the first quarter of this year, sales of Nokia phones fell by 30% compared to the same period last year. The decrease is a result of slowing sales of smartphones and ordinary phones Nokia.
This time Nokia did not disclose precise data on the sales of Lumia series with Windows Phone, but the manufacturer has made it clear that the reason for the decline in sales of the Lumia lies in the powerful dynamics of competing mobile operating systems (obviously, we are talking about Android and iOS). Simply put, the company acknowledged that Windows Phone is not attractive enough for consumers, which slows down sales.
Falling sales contributed to the extension of the operating loss of 326 million euros compared with 73 million Euro loss in the same period last year. The company claims that the losses are mainly due to a sharp decline in sales of conventional phones and to a lesser extent, a decrease in the sales of smartphones.
Also decreased the average selling price of devices, but it has much in common with such affordable smartphones like Nokia Lumia 520, which accounts for a significant portion of the total sales of the Lumia.
