Expi Desktop Manager – create your own areas, positioning of Windows on the screen
Snap in Windows 8 (or Aero Snap in Windows 7) created for the convenient positioning of the Windows by simply dragging them to the edges of the screen. Snap increases productivity in everyday tasks on the computer and saves time, especially if your activity involves working with multiple Windows on a large display with high resolution, or even on two or more monitors. The only drawback is not flexible enough function. Moreover, in its present form Snap cannot provide the really full control over your Windows. Fortunately, there are various tools that do a fantastic job in the positioning of Windows in predetermined areas on the screen, and one such tool is EXPI Desktop Manager. The app supports multi-monitor configurations and allows you to specify different zones for each screen.
EXPI has an intuitive interface and automatically detects the number of monitors connected to the computer. To create new zones from scratch, you need to choose «Edit» in the top menu and then «Create Multiple Zones».
Next you need to select the display which you want to create the zone. Of course, if you have one monitor, you do not need. Then you can divide the area into equal horizontal or vertical parts, or choose one of the predefined templates area, using the «Choose from a tamplate».
If you have already figured out the zones, it’s time to assign appropriate hotkeys for each zone. Hot keys you can assign in a tiny window that opens by double-clicking the area. The tool allows you to select one of four different modifier keys (Ctrl, Shift, Win and Alt) together with one of the secondary keys. In this window you can change the names of zones. Moreover, it is possible to specify your own coordinates of the X-axis and Y-axis for upper left corner of the zone, and the width and height of the area. Once finished with settings, click «OK».
Now minimize the window Expi Desktop Manager and allow the program to run in the background. Well, in order to move the active window to the desired area, all you have to do is press the corresponding key combination.
The program is free and works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
