The difference between Windows 10 Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Education
In may, Microsoft has officially unveiled the seven editions of Windows 10, giving us only a brief description of each of them. Seven editions, including those meant for users, businesses and educational institutions, two versions for smartphones and version of the operating system for «Internet of things» (IoT).
Since before the release of the desktop version of Windows 10 is that it is the number of revisions can create some confusion among inexperienced users, the company has published a summary table (PDF) that compares the functions contained in the Windows 10 Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Education.
Fortunately, gone are the days when not all editions of the operating system allowed you to change the desktop background. In other words, all the basic functions of Windows 10 will be available in each of the four versions for the desktop, including cortana (will not work in all regions), Windows Hello, Continuum, and Hiberboot InstaGo (quick start), the Microsoft Edge and a new interface (with the start menu and virtual desktops).
The real differences between them lie in the presence of Enterprise and Education (which have little differences with each other) tools for integration in the network infrastructure, additional security features and update modes – in General, anything that is designed for businesses and organizations.
Almost all of these functions are missing in version Home, but partly they are not in Pro.
