Create and apply checkpoints (snapshots) while working with virtual machines on Hyper-V
To cancel unwanted changes on virtual machines, hypervisors provide specific functionality for the type of rollback to a restore point or Windows backup system as it is practiced with physical computers when problems occur. The hypervisor is the mechanism of creation of snapshots (Snapshots), they are the same control points, they are also the checkpoints. It’s snapshots of virtual machines to which you can return at any time if after experimenting with the guest OS in its work something goes wrong.

2. Creating checkpoints in Hyper-V
Working with control points is carried out in the Hyper-V Manager. In the center of the properties window of the selected virtual machine in the tree structure will display all the created checkpoint.
Hyper-V optional does not limit the number of possible checkpoints, but they should not be creating too many, as each of them, respectively, takes place on the physical hard disk.
To create a checkpoint in Hyper-V Manager, click on the desired virtual machine context menu and select the item «reference point».

One of the advantages of Hyper-V is a discreet snapshots of a running virtual machine. Snapshots are created on the fly, but without a temporary suspension of work, as with this same procedure with virtual machines VMware and VirtualBox. For these areas until the process is complete, a checkpoint will temporarily use RAM or virtual memory of the host computer.
3. Deleting control points

4. Rename checkpoints

6. Export virtual machines as control points
