Cortana officially released for Android and iOS, while only in the United States and China
A few months ago, Microsoft has started private testing version of Cortana for Android and later for iOS. Today the app was officially released, and the debut took place simultaneously in Google Play and App Store. As in the case with the Windows version, voice assistant only works in certain countries.
Cortana is an alternative to Siri and Google Now, which was originally designed solely for Windows, but following in the path of a new strategy, consisting in opening up their services and applications for all major platforms, Microsoft decided that Cortana should be available on competing mobile OS.
Of course, the version for Android and iOS can not fully replace the Google Now and Siri, given the deep integration of the latter into the system, but Microsoft promises some useful additions.
From among the possibilities the company notes reminders based on time and location, which can synchronize with a Windows PC; tracking information about your favorite sports team and upcoming flight information (including funny answers) after questions on various topics.
Now the app can download only users in the United States and China.
