After upgrading to Windows 10 generates a new product key that you can use for a clean installation and activation
Today we are experiencing a great event that will surely prove to be a turning point in the history of Microsoft. We are talking about the official launch of Windows 10 operating system, which the company makes the transition to the model of «Windows as a service».
The update began today after midnight, but unfortunately, many have faced and continue to face, with its obtaining, what is to be expected, given the magnitude of this event. With this update arose and some questions that I would like to solve in this article.
Earlier today, Microsoft released an official tool designed to create image file (ISO), which you can then burn to external media and install Windows 10 with the disk formatting.
As mentioned many times, after upgrading Windows 7 or 8.1 users get an activated copy of Windows 10. However, to perform a clean installation using the ISO requires a valid product key for Windows 10, which is achieved only by updating our computers with version 7 or 8.1, or purchase a license for Windows 10.
If you check your product key after upgrading, you will see that it is different from the one you had before the upgrade. Thus, since the key for version 7 or 8.1 are not suitable for installing Windows 10 from scratch, you’ll need a new key, which, again, can only be obtained after the upgrade.
Find your new key you can, for example, using a small and free program Product Key Viewer. Just launch it, copy the key, paste into a text file and save it in a safe place. Storage is perfect OneDrive or any other popular cloud service.
