Acer: Microsoft has a chance against Google and Apple in the mobile market
Operating system Windows 8 from Microsoft in the next year may become a serious rival platforms from Google and Apple in the segment of portable devices, said Acer President Jim Wong in an interview with Bloomberg. According to him, the only thing that prevents the success of Windows, is a small number of apps, but Microsoft will solve this issue, I am sure Wong.
The world’s fourth largest PC maker is working on expanding its portfolio of devices with Windows 8 and a few days ago introduced a new model called the Acer Aspire P3 (see photo). The device has solid hardware, which is typical for ultrabooks, but is made in the form factor of the tablet to which you can attach a keyboard.
As for smartphones with Windows Phone – the company does not belong to the admirers of this platform and its models uses exclusively Android, but the smartphone running Windows Phone the company has released. Whether Wong’s confidence in the success of Microsoft in the mobile market with evidence that Acer plans new models with Windows Phone is we have to find out.
Despite the optimism Wong, Bloomberg notes that the presence of Microsoft in the segment of smartphones and tablets is still very modest. 2012 for Windows Phone ended with a market share of 2.7%, and Windows tablets had less than 4% of all deliveries.
