Web version of Skype running all over the world
Until now, the Skype for Outlook.com was only available to a limited number of users in August last year had the opportunity to make video calls from the page Outlook.com without installing the Skype app.
Yesterday Microsoft announced that Skype for Outlook.com started worldwide and this means that now each user Outlook.com can do HD video calls via Skype right from your Inbox on Outlook.com from the comfort of your browser.
To use this feature, you must install a small plugin called Skype Web. In addition to all the major browsers, the plugin supports Safari on Mac, which means that even users of Apple computers can make video calls using Outlook.com.
In the article on the official blog Skype said that in order to make HD video calls, both users must have HD compatible displays, web Cams and broadband Internet access.
If you want to install the Skype Web plug-in to make HD video calls from Outlook.com, here’s how you can do this:
Step 1: Go to this page and click «Proceed».
Step 2: On the next page click «I agree-continue». When will the download of the plugin, click «Save».
Step 3: once the installation file of Skype Web is downloaded, run it and install. After installation restart the browser is not necessary.
Step 4: Then sign in to your Microsoft account.
Step 5: Click on the chat icon (see screenshot), which is located in the upper right corner of the web page, choose the person you want to call and press the call button. That’s all!
If you haven’t linked your Skype account with your Microsoft account, you should do it to see your Skype contacts in Outlook.com.
